29 Weeks Pregnant



Your bundle of joy is continuing to grow and develop. At 29 weeks pregnant, he or she will weight around 2.5 pounds and will be about 15 inches in length. The only ones that will remain soft are those in the skull to aid with delivery. Lanugo will also have formed. This is downy hair that covers the whole of the body. This hair aids with the regulation of the body temperature while the fat continues to grow. Lanugo will shed itself as your baby develops more fat.

Changes in You at 29 Weeks Pregnant

You will start to get rounder during the following weeks. Your little one is concentrating on getting bigger and fatter now – so you will be too! Women act differently when they see their bump in the mirror – some love it and some absolutely hate the changes to their body. Try to enjoy this miracle as not every woman is able to experience it.

29 weeks pregnant is the time to start thinking about your maternity leave. Spend some time talking to your employer about what you are going to do. There are different laws depending on your company’s employment rate. You will find that there may be Family and Medical Leave Act available, which will allow you 12 weeks leave after the baby’s birth but this will be unpaid. You may be able to organize some of your holiday entitlement to be taken during this time.

At 29 weeks pregnant, there are chances that you are thinking about the arrival of your baby. If you have not done already, decide on the type of birth that you will have. If you want a home birth, this is the time to make sure that everything is ordered and ready to go. If you have decided that you want to be induced, you will need to talk to your caregiver – this is something that may be offered to you, especially if you have a high risk pregnancy.

This is the time to start making sure that the final touches are put on the home ready for your new arrival – if you have the energy for it. Fatigue will hit at 29 weeks pregnant as your baby continues to grow. There is nothing wrong with asking your partner or some family to help you, because your bump will also be getting much bigger. This larger bump and heavier weight will lead to tasks getting more difficult. Pace yourself and enjoy this time.

Constipation is a problem at 29 weeks pregnant so you need to make sure you eat plenty of fiber. Take some time to look at the nutritional value of everything that you are allowing past your lips. You may find that smaller meals help you during the day. They will offer less for your body to digest and will also help to prevent a block anywhere.
