Your bundle of joy is continuing to grow and develop. At 29 weeks
pregnant, he or she will weight around 2.5 pounds and will be about 15 inches
in length. This is just a rough estimate – all babies are different. Your baby
will quickly pile on the pounds from now as it gets ready to be born. After
all, you are just eight weeks away from being at full term.
Baby Development at
Pregnancy Week 29
At 29 weeks pregnant, a sleeping pattern will have been established
by your little one. You will find that your baby spends a lot more time
sleeping and there are chances that the dreaming stage of sleep has also
developed. When your baby is awake, you will know before there will be a lot of
movement. Of course, with the womb getting to be a smaller space, the kicks or
jabs will start to become uncomfortable.
The brain and bones will continue to develop. Your baby’s brain will
no longer be smooth and the neuron connections will be forming. The bones are
starting to get harder. The only ones that will remain soft are those in the
skull to aid with delivery. Lanugo will also have formed. This is downy hair
that covers the whole of the body. This hair aids with the regulation of the
body temperature while the fat continues to grow. Lanugo will shed itself as
your baby develops more fat.
Changes in You at 29 Weeks
Pregnant
You will start to get rounder during the following weeks. Your
little one is concentrating on getting bigger and fatter now – so you will be
too! Women act differently when they see their bump in the mirror – some love
it and some absolutely hate the changes to their body. Try to enjoy this
miracle as not every woman is able to experience it.
29 weeks pregnant is the time to start thinking about your maternity
leave. Spend some time talking to your employer about what you are going to do.
There are different laws depending on your company’s employment rate. You will
find that there may be Family and Medical Leave Act available, which will allow
you 12 weeks leave after the baby’s birth but this will be unpaid. You may be
able to organize some of your holiday entitlement to be taken during this time.
At 29 weeks pregnant, there are chances that you are thinking about
the arrival of your baby. If you have not done already, decide on the type of
birth that you will have. If you want a home birth, this is the time to make
sure that everything is ordered and ready to go. If you have decided that you
want to be induced, you will need to talk to your caregiver – this is something
that may be offered to you, especially if you have a high risk pregnancy.
Symptoms at Pregnancy Week
29
This is the time to start making sure that the final touches are put
on the home ready for your new arrival – if you have the energy for it. Fatigue
will hit at 29 weeks pregnant as your baby continues to grow. There is nothing
wrong with asking your partner or some family to help you, because your bump
will also be getting much bigger. This larger bump and heavier weight will lead
to tasks getting more difficult. Pace yourself and enjoy this time.
Constipation is a problem at 29 weeks pregnant so you need to make
sure you eat plenty of fiber. Take some time to look at the nutritional value
of everything that you are allowing past your lips. You may find that smaller
meals help you during the day. They will offer less for your body to digest and
will also help to prevent a block anywhere.
