Weighing around 5.3 pounds now, you will definitely feel the change
in weight between pregnancy weeks 34 and 35. However, the size doesn’t change too
much, as there is very little space in there now. But what about the
development? Just what is going on with just two weeks to go until you are
considered full term?
Your Baby’s Development at
35 Weeks Pregnant
Fat layers are continually being added during this period, which is
where the majority of the weight is coming from. These fat layers are necessary
to help with the regulation of the temperature after birth. The good news is
that should you go into labor now, there is an extremely high chance that your
little one will survive. If your baby is a boy, you may find that he needs help
with his breathing as baby boy lungs develop at a slower rate than a baby girl’s
lungs. Don’t worry about it! Doctors are highly trained to deal with all this.
This is the stage that the suckle reflexes start to develop. Whether
you want to breastfeed or bottle feed, there will not be too much of a problem.
It is entirely up to you which one you want to do. While breast is best for
your little one in normal circumstances, there are plenty of reasons to opt for
bottle-feeding. Talk to your partner about this now to discuss your
preferences.
Your doctor will want to check for your baby’s position around now.
This will help determine whether you will likely need a c-section or not. If
your baby is breech (feet or bottom first), there are high chances that a c-section
will be needed. You will be monitored to see if your baby will turn and will be
given exercises to help encourage him or her to get into the right position.
Symptoms in You at
Pregnancy 35 Weeks
At 35 weeks pregnant, there are chances that the movements inside
will hurt more. This is simply because of the lack of space, and he or she is
more likely to attack your ribs and organs. You may find it difficult to
breathe, too. Over the next few weeks, your little one will drop to get ready
to be born and you will suddenly feel like there is more space for your lungs.
Fatigue is extremely common right now. Your baby is not only getting
heavier, but still taking a lot of your nutrients. Don’t be tempted to “eat for
two,” though. Your body only needs an extra 300 calories a day to help your
baby continue to develop.
The constant need for toilet trips will also be likely at pregnancy
35 weeks. Your bladder doesn’t have the space to fill up that much. Don’t be
tempted to limit the amount you drink. Your body and your baby both need it.
Suffering from mood swings? That’s just part of the pregnancy too.
Just think about the amount of hormones, as well as the tiredness you are
feeling. You will have a number of different worries, and that is perfectly
normal. It’s important to talk to your partner about your worries, and discuss
things with your doctor too. Practice the hospital run, so you and your partner
are ready for the drive should you go into labor early.
Changes in You at
Pregnancy Week 35
One of the biggest chances you will see is the stretch marks likely
forming around your bump. They can be extremely annoying, but they are
completely normal. You can limit the amount they appear by moisturizing your
skin and drinking plenty of water. They will fade over time from the purple/red
marks to silvery ones.
You may find the bump suddenly drops lower. This is, as mentioned
before, a normal part of pregnancy and just your baby getting ready to make his
or her way out. That doesn’t mean you will go into labor anytime soon. You
could go another five to seven weeks!
Take some time for yourself when you’re 35 weeks pregnant. In just a
few weeks, you will be a mom and that will take up all your time. This is going
to be the last time that you get to go away without worrying about how well
your little one is doing with his or her grandparents etc.
