| What is the best diet for conceiving? |
If you’re
trying for a baby, you want to do everything right. There are very high chances
that you are looking into things like diet and exercise.
I’m going to
cover the diet in this blog post, and see if there is a best diet for
conceiving for women? Are there certain foods that you should try, or ones that
you should really avoid?
Eating a Healthy and Balanced Diet
One of the
most important things to cover is to follow a healthy and balanced diet. This
is not the time to cut out essential nutrients because you’re trying to crash
diet. While you may want to lose some weight and being within a healthy weight
range is better for you and your baby, cutting out nutrients will just lead to
issues for you and your attempt at having a baby.
The best
diet for conceiving really is a healthy and balanced one. There will be little
need to take supplements—unless your doctor advises you—and you will eat a diet
that is moderate in fat, which is healthy for you anyway.
Reduce Your Alcohol and Caffeine Intake
Both alcohol
and caffeine are dangerous to unborn babies. They can also affect your
fertility. It will be best to reduce them now and get yourself ready for nine
months of limited amounts anyway.
Between your
ovulation and menstrual points of your cycle, it is worth avoiding both
completely. This is when your body needs as much help as possible, especially
if you have gone a couple of cycles without any success. If you are really
struggling, you may want to consider given them both up completely until you
have seen success and had a baby.
Get More Fruit and Vegetables
Fruit and
vegetables are natural ways to get all the nutrients your body needs. At the
same time, they’re full of nutrients your cycle needs to keep the hormones in
balance. Eat more red, green and yellow options.
The fruit
and vegetables are also full of antioxidants. These are essential for fighting
against free radicals, which can lead to cancer. They can also help to protect
your eggs and everything else down there to help with conceiving.
Watch Out for Listeria
Now may be
the best time to cut back on those soft cheeses, unpasteurised milks and
anything else that can contain the bacteria listeria. This not only makes you
ill, but can also cause miscarriages. It may even make it difficult to conceive
in the first place.
When you are
pregnant, you will be advised to stay away from anything that involves
listeria. So, it makes sense to cut it out early. You will be pregnant before
you know it, and the first few weeks are the most important.
The Right Vitamins
Now is a
great time to think about the pregnancy vitamins. Folic acid and vitamin D are
the most common, but your doctor may advise you to take others. You do need to
be careful with taking certain types. Avoid those that have animal forms of
vitamin A, as they can be dangerous to your growing foetus.
The best
diet for conceiving is actually one that you would follow when you are
pregnant. It gets the body ready, and offers the most benefit to a growing baby
once you have conceived.
