Being pregnant can be a great thing for many women. However,
for others it can be one of the most excruciating and miserable times. When the
baby is overdue, it can be even worse for many. Your expected due date has been
and gone and now you have up to a two week wait before the doctors will do
anything.
I know how you feel. Really! My daughter didn’t want to come
out and I had to be induced.
It’s important to find ways of dealing with your baby being
overdue. Here are my tips to help deal.
Get Baby’s Room Ready
This is your time to get the house ready for your new little
one. Start with the nursery and make sure everything is in place and the way
you want it.
You should have most of it the way you want, but what about
that personalized touch? Don’t you want the mural to place on the wall or make
sure there are enough clothes in the drawers.
Put the crib where you want it and try out different
placements for the cuddly toys and play mat.
Plan Your Meals Ahead
When your baby is born, you’re going to want to catch up on
sleep and spend time with him or her. Cooking will be the last thing on your
mind.
It’s time now to get some meals planned. Make batches of Bolognese,
cottage pie and other freezer-friendly meals and pop them in the freezer. Try
to have three or four weeks worth of dishes, so you can just pull them out and
put them in the microwave.
This will really help to save money. When your baby is born,
you’ll find that quick freezer meals are the go-to if you have them. Otherwise,
it will be takeout!
Take Your Mind Off
Your Baby Being Overdue
The more you think of it, the more it will annoy you. It’s
time to do things to take your mind off things. There are a few ideas:
- Visit friends
- Get out exercising (as long as the doctor has given you the ok)
- Get recipe ideas for batch meals
- Enjoy a weekend break with your partner
Pick Up Some
De-Stressing Techniques
Stress isn’t good for you or the baby. But how do you deal
with stress when your baby is overdue?
Try different de-stressing techniques, including breathing,
meditation and yoga. There are so many out there and your doctor will be able
to suggest ones that are safe while you’re pregnant.
These techniques will also help you as you worry about the
birthing process. If it’s your first baby, there will be so much that you don’t
know about. If it’s your subsequent baby, you may have had a traumatic first
birth that you’re worried about. Use the de-stressing techniques to ease your
mind.
If your baby is overdue, you need to deal with the wait.
Taking your mind off it is the best way to do that, whether it’s through
meeting up with friends or getting your little one’s room all ready. Don’t
worry; in just two weeks (in most cases) you will have your bundle of joy in
your arms.
